GCSE Results 2022
Not all our successes with students are measured by exam results - sometimes the success is completing the course.
However, we were delighted with our GCSE results for summer 2022. Many of our students are entered for exams by other centres (usually their schools) so we don't always receive the students, but of those we have received, 81% of students received a GCSE in English and Maths and 75% in Science.
English Language: 81% of grades were 4 or higher, with 31% of grades being 6 or above
English Literature: more than half of the students who took English Language also got a GCSE in Literature, with 62% of grades at grade 4 or above
Maths: 65% of grades were 4 or higher, with 15% being at 6 or above
Science: for combined science, 56% of grades were 4 or higher, and for separate sciences that figure is 100%, with 83% being 6 or higher
Computer Science: 50% of grades were 6 or higher
Our cohort is very diverse, with most students having lost time during their education and having learning gaps, so it was fabulous to see so many great grades. Overall our students received ten grade 9s between them and the average grade was higher than 5.
Learning Hubs
This year has seen an unprecedented number of referrals to the team. In response to demand we have set up three secondary learning hubs to deliver curriculum input and allow for much needed social time for pupils who have become isolated from peers due to their presenting health needs. This year we have been able to deliver GCSE English language and literature, Maths, Science, ICT and computing. Alongside those we have introduced Functional Skills Maths and English. The hubs have been well received by pupils and following on from them we held our first Flexible Learning Prom. It was attended by 25 pupils who really did 'dress to impress'. Our colleagues in Whitestone CAMHS helped to supply the dresses and suits and we are very grateful for their support allowing our pupils to experience such an important rite of passage.
