Comments and Feedback

The following are just some of the comments we've had from students, parents and schools:

"We are delighted with our GCSE results for summer 2020. Our students had worked hard towards their GCSEs despite their ill health and achieved some truly exceptional results. The percentage of students achieving grade 4 or above was 65% for English Language, 74% for English Literature, 57% for Maths and 58% for the Sciences. Congratulations to every one of them."

"Thank God Flexible Learning exists - you have all been brilliant!  We are really happy with his GCSE results. Massive Thank you."

"L is all set to do her A levels at college in September."

"Just wanted to let you know that J did brilliantly in his GCSE results! We're so pleased and relieved. Thanks so much for all your support and guidance. (J got one grade 8, five grade 7s, three grade 6's and a grade 5!)"

"Just thought I'd let you know I've achieved a 5 in physics, a 5 in biology and a 4 in chemistry. It's all thanks to you and I just want to thank you for all the help you've given me!"

"...I thought I'd email to let you know I got a 5, 6 & 7 anyway. Thank you so much for your help with everything it's made it all so easy for us and I really appreciate that. I've also got so much good news for you. A quick summary though I've started going on bike rides. It's the best thing that could've ever helped me with moving forward. (Getting a bike I mean) today I went out for about 1.5/2 hours and had a picnic in the fields by myself and also i went to the shop for the first time the other day!! The progress in this past month has been baffling even to myself - and there's so much more too."

"My daughter would not have managed without your unerring and genuine encouragement, kindness, understanding and wisdom. She has flourished under your care and support and has risen from being a lost and frightened child to a strong and successful young woman. You have given her strength and life skills and a renewed faith in life. You are amazing! You have been a better support than we could have wished for, and we will be forever grateful, thank you!"

"Thankyou do much for all of your support and encouragement. I don't want to sound dramatic but you caught us as our lowest and gave us the confidence to feel positive again - the world needs more people like you. When we first met you in September, this was the first time we felt understood and accepted and that meant the world."

"Thank you for everything you've done over the past 3 years. Without you I don't know what we would have done."

"Thankyou for creating every single possibility to make me feel comfortable and welcome in September. Thankyou for making every resource available for me so I could catch up on work and becoming more social again! You have brought my confidence higher than I ever thought it would be since I left school. Thankyou for using your time to teach me the whole of Macbeth, which I smashed in the exam. I wouldn't have been able to do any of it without you."

"Thank you for being there for so many years. Your help has meant the world. You've helped me grow my wings and for that I can't thank you enough."

"Just to let you know that both students had fantastic outcomes in their GCSEs. One has 4 grade 5s and a grade 4 which means she can do the L3 course at college. The other has brilliant top results.

So proud of both students and as always immensely grateful for all your support. They couldn't have got these results without the Flexible Learning team!" (Senior Assistant Headteacher)

"Can I just say a big thanks to the Flexible Learning Team for all their work with our students this year." (Secondary School Head of Year)

"My experience with referring to the service has been excellent. I think you have provided a great service. I would recommend you without hesitation. I also think that in my conversations with various members of your team, I have always felt like I am talking to a person who cares about what they are doing rather than some anonymous entity in an office. Thank you so much"

"Very happy with all the support from the ill health team for the past two years."

"Happy with all the support I got especially from my learning mentor"

"The availability of the tutors and mentors, both online in lessons and outside that."

"My learning mentor was very friendly and supportive to my daughter, my family and the school. She listened to what we needed and supported my daughter in both her schooling and her anxiety. The maths tutor's willingness to come to the house to give my daughter 1-2-1 additional lessons when she was struggling was a brilliant service. He kept us updated on when he could attend so we all knew what was happening. More importantly my daughter's maths improved. We believe this service has helped my daughter get back into her lessons without being too far behind. Thank you"

"When my child needed extra help with study for exams the team sorted a tutor to visit our home. They took the worry away from my child who suffers from CFS"

"Providing a formal platform for meetings with the school. Making me realise the importance of keeping up with friends not just schoolwork"

"Having a consistent person to link with and who could provide the link from school to home when the student was not in school at all"

"Willingness to help and flexibility - often under quite challenging circumstances"

"It is really good having the same person from the team work with all students from our school, this allows for effective working relationships to build over time and allows us to work more efficiently together"

"The learning mentor was very approachable and I would certainly refer to him and the service in the future"

"We would really like to thank you for the service you offer, but a huge heartfelt thank you to our learning mentor who has been a major part of our journey with our daughter.

Although our time with her has come to an end all for good reason, as our daughter is in remission and making fantastic progress, we shall miss her, she is a credit to your service.

Please could you pass this on to your head office and heads of department"

"Thank you for all the help we received we really had nowhere to go"

"The most helpful thing about the service was the constant support from the student's key worker which supported parent/school links, monitoring progress in lessons and ensuring the student felt comfortable enough to access lessons in school"

"I believe that this is a great service that has proven to be very valuable with our students"

"Enabling a young person who had completely removed herself from society to access regular education & is now seeing a teacher from the team – a massive success & still progressing. Please don't stop"

"Registers are completed accurately & up to date, which is helpful for our admiration, work is engaging our student and feedback is regular"

"Very quick response to the initial request for support, Parents were very impressed which the service offered"

"Regular communication & meetings, excellent support for our student in school helped her to return full time"

The service responded quickly to this case following referral, the family engaged positively with the staff & were grateful for the support & wider intervention"

"Support for the student was excellent although she didn't always engage, regular meetings with school, team, student & mum were very useful"

"Our main reason for referring pupils to the team is anxiety issues. As such it is essential to have a specialist service who can do the outreach work & get into homes to see what is the cause of the non-attendance, whilst also setting up provision so that education is being accessed. I also find the service can be very flexible in juggling times, especially when more intensive support is needed such as a pupil reintegrating to school"

"Overall it is the ability of the staff to form good relationships with the pupils & their ability to juggle commitments to almost be in two schools at once, which makes the service work so well"

"Continual support for our student enabled him to feel confident to return to do his exams in school, he appreciated the support he received & is looking forward to joining the sixth form"

"The service was completely & utterly invaluable"

"Our daughter continued to be educated in the main subjects whilst she was poorly and left school"

"The way the service dealt with the school took so much pressure off us"

"I thought the online lessons were fantastic & the teachers friendly, enthusiastic, encouraging & they taught clearly & concisely – just as good as school"

"The staff we met were all extremely understanding & supportive - first class service all round"

"One to one teaching & learning – customised to individual needs, a friendly & non-judgemental, while professional approach"

"Regular communication, quick response from application to allocation"

"The support given at home to encourage & re-engage the student"

"Thank you very much to everyone in the team. Our daughter got the grades she needed to get into College, and started to enjoy learning again. She is now doing hairdressing and very happy"

"Thank you for being my Wednesday maths teacher. I have loved your lessons. I have loved all my flex lessons. I feel I have learnt so much and can learn even when I am feeling poorly and in lots of pain."
